Getting Ready For Game-Day Stains
If you’re hosting a party to watch the big pro football games or college bowl games—or the adorable Puppy Bowl—you’ll probably be busy preparing for a house full of guests. But with any party, stains and messes are bound to appear. Let us help you prepare for any game-day stains that may find their way onto your carpets.
Dirt and Mud
As your guests arrive, they may bring some of the outdoors with them. To help battle messes that come indoors, put an absorbent mat inside your front door for guests to wipe their shoes on or go for a shoes free party!
BBQ Sauce
BBQ is a popular choice for parties, whether it’s chicken, ribs or other foods. Unfortunately, some BBQ sauce is bound to land on your carpet. For this type of stain and those from other condiments like ketchup, we recommend using the Professional Oxy Spot +Pre-treat . It attacks tough, colored stains and permanently removes them from the fibers of your carpet.
The first step is to use a white cloth or towel to gently blot up as much of the excess sauce as you can without pushing the stain into the carpet. Next, spray the cleaning solution onto the stain. Use a clean white cloth or towel to work the formula into the stained area. Use light, scooping strokes and move from the edges to the center of the stain to avoid spreading it further. Lightly pinch in an upward motion when you reach the center to lift the stain.
Red Wine and Juice
If you or any of your guests decide to enjoy a nice glass of red wine, or if the kids are drinking juice, some might spill onto your light-colored carpet, but don’t worry. Treat wine and juice stains like you would BBQ sauce and other condiments. Just be sure to blot up as much as you can with a cloth (starting from the outside edges and working towards the center) without pushing the stain into the carpet.
If any stains remain after your party is over, we recommend an overall cleaning with a Rug Doctor® by BISSELL® carpet cleaner rental to rejuvenate your entire carpet, paying special attention to the stained areas.
In the meantime, relax and let the party begin. Game on!
