This checklist is great to start with, customize the checklist to fit your cleaning needs. Now that you have a cleaning list to follow along, here are some more details about cleaning tasks that tend to get overlooked.

  1. Deep Clean Carpets
When your doors and windows stay closed for the winter months to keep warm air inside, you probably don’t think about what else is staying indoors with you: dust and dirt. In fact, deep in your carpet fibers is a favorable spot for dust and dander allergens, and they settle in over the long winter months.

To get rid of dust, dirt, and stains, one of the most important spring house cleaning tasks is to deep clean your carpet. Start the process by:
    *First vacuum the area.
*Then use a pretreat stain formula of your choice on tough stains like pet urine or ground-in dirt.
*Deep clean your carpet with one of our upright carpet cleaner rental machines and get a professional grade deep clean.

  2. Deep Clean The Couch
The couch is a well-loved item of any home, but with any well-loved item, it collects a lot of dirt, dust, and other stains. Upholstery can seem like a difficult thing to clean. Make the cleaning process easy with our rental machines. Check the manufacturer’s tag, if the fabric is coded “WS” or “W,” it’s safe to clean with water.  That means you can clean your couch with the same upright carpet cleaner used on the carpets and rugs when you add an upholstery attachment to your rental for only $5.99. Looking to just do your upholstery? Try a Portable spot cleaner to refresh upholstery and other small carpeted areas. Before you start cleaning, be sure to always test a small hidden area of fabric first to check for colorfastness.
  3. Wash Your Pet’s Bed
What about Fido’s furniture? Pet beds are great places for dust and odors to settle in and are often overlooked when cleaning. If washable, toss it in the washing machine and your furry friend will thank you!
  4. Polish Up Walls And Windows
Walls and windows can be spring cleaned, too! Dust can settle on these surfaces so it’s important to re-visit these at least once a year. Begin by washing the inside and outside of your windows. Then wipe down blinds and window frames. Next, dust the walls, as well as baseboards and other trim. Make sure to reach the corners and other hard-to-reach places and use a cleaning formula for any tough stains or scuffs on your walls. Wipe down light fixtures and ceiling fans, too, to get rid of any wintertime germs and dust that might be lingering.
  5. Organize, Organize, Organize
Spring is a great time to start fresh so give yourself a few days to get organized. Organize your home by:
    *Cleaning off countertops
*Emptying and sorting through cabinets and drawers
    *Reorganizing rooms and closets
*Throw away and recycle papers you no longer need or file them away
  6. Misc Tasks that can be forgotten about
    Other Spring Cleaning Tasks:
*Replace batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
*Disinfect your pet’s toys-or replace them with new ones.
    *Replace lightbulbs.
*Go through your computer to clean out cluttered files and bookmarks.
*Disinfect your phone and phone case.

It’s time to get cleaning!  With every room refreshed and organized, your home will be ready to embrace the new season. Enjoy the sense of accomplishment and the fresh, clean space you’ve created. Happy spring cleaning!
